Reisebericht von Marko Doboš zum Naturformen-Eintrag S. heuffelii from Bebresh Dam, oberhalb

Jovibarba heuffelii, above Bebresh Dam, BG

Last summer (30.6.2014.) during my cycling trip to east
above Bebresh Dam in Sofijska Oblast (Bulgaria) I observed
a population of Jovibarba heuffelii.

This was the first time I saw this species in natural habitat and I was ecstatic.
Population was growing on some kind of moraine that was a rocky line habitat
inside of higher vegetation (forest).

All plants were green, and I presumed it's because they grow on such low elevation (495m).
Next day I saw the same species in higher mountains and plants looked really different (I will write about it in another topic)

I took a few rosettes and brought them in culture. I'm sure in near future I could share them with you, so if you ever have a chance to visit this beautiful habitat, please don't collect more plants. :)

Dear Marko,

thank you for next report about the habitat of houseleek. You saw really nice habitat of Jovibarba heuffelii.
The color of rosettes (rosette leaves, stem leaves...) could be influenced also by weather conditions, type of rock, amount of water or for example by amount of sunshining. How much sunshine become the rosettes on the habitat?
You also confirmed, that Jovibarba heuffelii looks on every habitat differently.

Best regards,
jezour

Jezour,
I would say most plants get a lot of sunshine, only few grow closer to shrubs, or even under the shrubs.

Zaubergarten, I'm glad you like them. :)

Dear Marko,

you found a habitat of my favourite plants. There are some wonderful heuffelii-groups in your pictures.

Thank you very much.

I love Heuffeliis (I've got about 350).

Your pictures and data will be in the Naturformen-Lexikon later today.

Yes, I love that colour. My cultivar 'Jade / Jovi' has got that colour too. (I have got two stones Jade from New Zealand and Zimbabwe, when I was there - I think, that the real Jade-colour is a darker green)

Thank you for that wonderful picture!!!!

Please give me the date of the picture - I can't look up the exif-data of this picture.

Marko, do you know a possibility to look up exif-datas from such pictures - no matter what you changed ...cropped or otherwise changed? I think no.

Yes, I travelled a lot all around the world  when I was younger. But I have never seen sempervivum in nature - unbelievable.
