Hallo Sempsfreunde!

Zur Entstehung dieses Namens, hier eine interessante Bemerkung von Helen E. Payne aus ihrem Buch "Jewels of the High Country" von 1972:

....For several years sedums and sempervivums were grown be-
fore our shipping business was started. A number of plants were
bought by mail from Sandy MacPherson and many from Leo
Thomas of Arcady Gardens at Medford, Oregon, who had been
shipping for many years. We made a special trip to see him and
tell of our plan to enter the field, feeling it was only fair to do so.
His response was very generous and heart-warming. He even
showed us how his plants were packed and the best size carton to
use. Truly, the world is full of the nicest people!
Over the years our association has been a happy one. In
fact, a sempervivum hybrid, which we named Thayne, is a combi-
nation form of their name, Thomas, and ours, Payne. Coinci-
dentally, Mrs. Thomas' maiden name was Payne and mine was
Thomas, and it was for this reason, as well as our friendship, that
I combined the two names and S. Thayne came into existence....

Ist doch interessant,oder?
